Class Dojo Classroom management and communication with families are a big part of being a good and effective teacher. With technology in our lives becoming an increasingly dominant presence over time, it is time that teachers also integrate effective technology for classroom management and communication with families about it. The app that I discovered to be most efficient and effective was Class Dojo. This app is used to document and track behaviors observed in children and communicate with families efficiently of a child’s day or of the details of a certain incident. On Class Dojo, I can create profiles of each child to keep filing documents easier online and to be able to visualize their progress in behaviors much more effectively. The portal on the app allows for and encourages easy communication and collaboration with families. Student as a Tutorial Designer

Teach Your Monster to Read can be used for students to “teach” another person, or in this case, a monster to learn how to read. By using the app and exploring different games available to work on certain concepts such as letter-sounds, letter identification, and feeling the accomplishment of their monster leveling up to more advanced levels, students can be inspired to show their work and success in reading concepts! I would supplement reading concepts with the online app games and also translate some activities to physical games they can show and “play” with their peers. For example, in the Village game, the monster icon travels from one space to another to explore letter-sound correspondences within a certain theme. In the example below, the student clicked on the rocket icon within the “village” and their monster has flown up to space to build their phonemic awareness and match the letter-sound correspondences.
