Mary, great job with your final presentation. I think that teaching students how to use technology as a tool to help them in their learning is so important. Classroom Dojo sounds like a great app to individually keep track of students and to connect to their parents as well. I completely agree with you that technology needs to be used productively in order for it to be effective in the classroom and this class has really helped me think of different ways to do that. It was great working with you during class and I wish you luck in your future teaching endeavors!
Hi Mary, I felt that I had a similar takeaway from this class. We cannot avoid technology and should find ways to integrate it into our classroom. It is important to use technology in a way that boosts students learning as opposed to using it as a million dollar pencil or electric book as you put it. We have to teach our students how to use these tools and how they can use technology to get more out of their learning but to not become overly dependent on it. Good luck in the fall!
Hi Mary, Thanks for your sharing. You're absolutely right; integrate technology in the classroom is unavoidable. We have to keep pace with the times and keep learning. As a teacher, our goal is to use technology productively in our classroom. Use technology to meets students' different learning needs to achieve UDL. Thanks, and good luck in the school year!
I appreciated your comments and experience from high school about the iPad basically being a portable textbook. I think as educators we have to be careful that we are intentional about using technology to empower the student. This takes research and exploration of applications that are appropriate for our grade level in classroom. You did a great job on your final reflection and like you I agree that some technology if not appropriate can be fluff. We have to be careful not not to be teaching technology but using the technology to teach creativity innovation and critical thinking. You did a great job. I wish you all the best!blessings Darla
Mary, It was interesting to hear your own experience as a student. It also was great to hear how you plan to change and use tech as an asset in the classroom. I agree that this class made me see how accessible different aspects of tech are really at our fingertips. Best of Luck!
Hi Mary, Your presentation setup is amazing - so clear and organized! I like how you mentioned that technology should be used as a tool - not something that students should rely on. I agree, that after this course, technology seems much more accessible and usable in our age groups. There are so many apps out there that can be helpful to us as educators. It sounds like this class has you thinking deeply about what you want in your ideal classroom. It definitely sparked a lot of thoughts for me in what I am looking for in my future for school environments. Have a great summer!
